+ It was an accident! The first time I landed on Lesvos. I was heading for Chios but slept to long and woke up in Mytilini port. I'm happy for that. The first I did was get myself a map and breakfast at a gyros pita place. It was nice to sit there at the seafront and watch the ordinary life and figure out my next move. Its always interesting to reach a new island, and Lesvos was something new to me. Before that day I had only been to typical tourist islands like Corfu, Paros, Santorini etc. Lesvos is not like them. The island is still unspoiled from mass tourism

+ Lesbos/Mytilini is a green fertile island close to the Turkish coast, The third biggest in Greece. And still free from masstourism. There is not so many charter operators and the people here don't seem to look at you as a walking wallet. Prices here is low (comparing to cyclades) and its a perfect place to relax. The only problem I can see is the distance, ten maybe twelve hours with boat from Pireus is no fun at all, but its worth it.

+ About the name, Lesbos/Lesvos. The history tells about Sappho the poetess and her love songs to girls gave us the word lesbian, But was she gay? Other stories tells that she committed suicide jumping from a cliff on Lefkas island because of unrequited love to a man........
